Hot Rod Kitchen Aid

Here is another project idea that my Mom and I did this weekend. She found the blog Wonderfully Wordy that had put vinyl lettering on the top of their Kitchen Aid Mixer. So we gave it a try and I love how it turned out.

Now I know how those car guys feel when they get flames put on their classic cars. I now want to put something on the bottom where the bowl sits, maybe next weekend.

Fridge Art

My mom came up this past weekend with her Silhouette machine and we went crazy with projects. This project is vinyl frames on a refrigerator for showing off kids school pictures and what not. I am always trying to keep my fridge looking clean and somewhat organized, sometimes they can be eyesores in your kitchen. So here is the before, not too bad....

...and here is the after. We added 8x11 vinyl frames and added the school pictures that I already had on there. I snitched some cute magnets from other places in the house and added them as well. We also added cute vinyl to my white board that I keep a running shopping list on.


Here are my two oldest with this years school pics and a cute kitchen magnet that came in a set. Sorry for the bad picture quality, it is hard to get the light right in my kitchen, but you get the idea.

Because we love all things country around here I had to use one of the frames with barbed wire. Here is Landon and my nephew Joseph. That one if my Hubbies favorite.

Vinyl is so much fun because it is so versatile, not just for wood signs anymore.

Bazaar Preview

I have been a busy beaver this past week putting together a few things to sell in the booth at my Mom's booth at our local bazaar. I didn't think I would have time to get anything done and then remembered the $ I could make, so the kids and I have been scrambling to get a few things done.

Here are some of my felt turkeys that I have been making forever, but they seem to be a hit every year so I keep making them. Next to that is my version of a 2x4 Christmas tree and Showman. I got this cute idea from Under My Umbrella. Go check out her super cute blog and craft ideas.

Addison & Logan made these super cute candycane reindeer treats. I even found chocolate candycanes so they look more like reindeer. Aren't they adorable. I think they would make the cutest stocking stuffers for Santa. Maybe, I need to give him a jingle.

These reindeer are ready and rarin' to go for Christmas.

Addison and I made these candy ornaments for a tree decoration. They are red and white pipe cleaners twisted together and glued into a circle. Super cheap and fast. I have a few other crafts to make this week and when I get them done I will post part two. Wish me luck!

Fall Bazaar

Robb and I headed out to a cute little country farm bazaar and had such a great time. It was an adorable little farm with vendors, pumpkins, barns, yummy smelling food and adorable music playing throughout. I loved going to this because these kinds of things are getting more and more rare in our area.

Robb and Landon on the adorable pumpkin display. Landon was in love with that old truck in the background. He kept wanting to drive it.

Check out these awesome pumpkins. They were so cute and funky. Loved them.

Here is a view of some of the vendors. We ran in to a good friend of ours selling her bags made from recycles grocery sacks. You have to see them to understand, but they are great. There were so many cute booths. There were even adorable Mennonite women with yummy baked goods and handcrafted items. So cute.


I just loved this super cute display for pumpkins. This is some smart thinking there. Got me in the mood for fall crafting and holidays.

New Decor

This is my newest addition to my fall decor. Yes, it is a door that leads to nowhere.

My crafty Mother-in-law created these great doors for the background of my Brother-in-laws wedding this past weekend. They turned out great and really made a stunning backdrop in the otherwise ugly room. She was nice enough to give me one of them. I am excited to see what I can do with this large piece of decor.

Getting Knifty!

So, I have had a Knifty Knitter for a couple of years now, and have made a few hats for people. I just followed the instructions and took off. Then, my mom found a blog where someone had made a cute had and put a flower on it. I thought,"I can do that!" So I went to Michael's today to get some yarn and found a book to do a few cute things. I was so excited that I came right home and got started. These things really are super easy. Even Addison is making a hat.

I decided to try this basket weave hat. I followed the instructions, that were a little tricky, but I figured it out. Within 2 hours I was done. It was that simple!
These are my looms, except for the red one that Addison is using at the moment, book, yarn, and a hat I started last winter for my mom, and finally finished this winter. Great daughter, aren't I?
Tada! Here it is. My plan was to make this for me, but when I got it done it was too small for me, but just right for Addison. You can't really tell, but the top of the hat is a basket weave, and the sides are knitted, with a cuff that is Purled (that's fancy Knitter talk).We added a cute flower that I got at Michael's too. All their flowers are 40% off right now! Yippee! I can't wait to make one for me tomorrow! I am afraid this could be an addition. I was googling tonight and there is a whole wide world of Knifty Knitter ideas. Can't wait to get started for the bazaar next year, or maybe I will get a little etsy store open! Who knows. Enjoy!

Do you believe?

I have to admit that I LOVE Santa Claus. Not because he represents gifts or the horrible commercialization of Christmas, but because to me he represents everything good and sweet about Christmas. I like to think of him as the facilitator of kindness, love, and childhood excitement. We talk a lot about the birth of the Savior at our house, but Santa is also talked about with kindness and a sort of reverence. Not that he overshadows the Birth of Christ, but rather encourages brotherly love and everything wonderful that Christ stands for.
I have also decided that I will always believe in Santa. My kids will always here that from me, and they can come to their own conclusions when the time comes.

So, I made these adorable blocks when I was at my parents house over Thanksgiving. My Mom found them on another blog, and I don't have that address to give credit. I am sorry and if you know who it is please let me know so I can give credit where credit is due! There is even the rare picture of me! For once I was not behind the camera. I also have to thank my mom for all the supplies. She is so great about letting me raid all of her great craft supplies!

Super Easy Craft!

My Mom came across this simple idea for dressing up candles over at Remodeling This Life. It is so easy and quick. It only took me a few minutes to do. It think it took me longer to dig up my Mod Podge.

Here's what you need. A candle, new or used, Epsom salt, Mod Podge, sponge brush, shallow dish.

1. Pour Epsom Salts in a shallow dish.

2. Paint on a nice thick coat of Mod Podge.

4. Roll candle in salt until well coated. Shake off excess and let dry.

5. Place in your favorite place.

Tada! Here is the finished project! I love how it turned out. My husband said it looked good enough to eat! Sure, take a lick. (just a note: Don't burn the candle, because the heat causes the epsom salts to turn white and look like rock salt)

Here is the candle lit. Sorry it is so dark. My camera is in love with it's flash and refuses to cooperate in the dark, but you get the idea. Hope you have fun with it!

Give Thanks

I put this together the other night and just fell in love with it. I am not sure I can sell it in the bazaar. I am thinking that my shelf needs this little number on it.

I stitched this graphic on muslin this time. I had the frame and glued it to the back of the frame. There was no glass in it, but I think it gives it a nice touch being able to touch the design. I found the pumpkin in on of my PC Crafter files and the font is also from PC Crafter. If you have never heard of or used PC Crafter you have to check it out. It is the most adorable clip art for all kinds of projects. I have used it for several years for cards, posters, handouts for church and so on.

Don't you just want to marry this little pumpkin? Isn't it the cutest little thing?

My New Obsession

I admit that I am hooked! This new craft for me is wonderful. I can do it with my kids around, it is not expensive, and it is hugely satisfying. What is it? Stitchery! I love it, love it, love it!

I am loving hand stitching. I found this wonderful blog. Shelly, over at Needle in a Haystack had the most adorable projects to make. I even downloaded her e-book on stitchery and LOVED it. She give great instructions on how to do this stuff. I love having it with me. I can work on projects while I am waiting for my kids at school, while I am listening to them read, or while watching a movie. If I could do this while blogging I think my life would be complete. I would need a whole other set of hands for that, and imagine what I could accomplish with 4 hands! Holy Cow! Watch out world!

This one (and the Believe one) is a birthday gift for a friend of mine. Can you believe that I have two friends with the same birthday? I am giving each of them one. I hope they like it.

Here are the supplies for these cute cute towels. You can get the pattern for free over at Needle in a Haystack, just click here. Here are what you will need. Colored towel, that I found at the Dollar Store, Flour sack towels that I found for $5.99 for 4 at Target, and crosstitch floss found at JoAnns for $.37 ea. I already had needles and a small hoop.

This is one that I copied from a towel that my mom bought at a craft sale. This one I am going to be selling at the bazaar this weekend. I hope all the ladies like this little number. Even if they don't I just might have to keep in myself. I am gearing up to make some of these for Christmas presents too.

This pattern you can also get for free at Needle in a Haystack. Super cut and super fast to make. I make this one in while we were at a family function. I chatted with my Mother-in-law while I worked on this. It was so fun.

Girls Hairbow Craft

These are the clips I made up to sell on the bow holders for the bazaar.

You will need:

Silk or paper flowers, from your local craft store

Embellishments-brads, jewels, buttons, etc.

Metal Hair clips(I found mine at Walmart)

Ribbon

Hot glue gun

Glue

Glue the ribbon all around the outside and inside of the clip. The ribbon will help hold the clip in place better, and look more decorative.

Next, take apart the flower and add embellishment. I took the flowers apart because they had a better shape when held together with a brad, and it was easier to glue to the clip when I didn't have to fight that green plastic on the bottom. Glue the flower on to the top of the clip and you are ready to go!

Here are a bunch of the clips that I made up to put on the bow holders. You can be as creative as you would like. My next project is to learn how to crochet flowers for hair clips. I found a great tutorial on those over at Little Birdy Secrets, another of my favorite blogs!

Picture Frame Makover

This is another of the projects that I am doing for next weeks bazaar. I found this great idea for a girls bow holder over at the Idea Room, which is one of my all time favorite blogs. Everything she does is so great. Make sure and check her out!

I wanted to make one of these for Addison for Christmas (ssshhhhh, don't tell her) and thought they would be fun to sell too. I also made the flower clips to go on the holders. I will post a tutorial on those later.

So here is how I did it. Cut batting and material just about 1 inch larger than the piece of glass that goes in the frame. (I spray painted the frame white) Cut the strips of ribbon longer than the opening of the frame (sorry I don't have a pic of that step, but you can go here if you need to see that step)



Duct tape the material and batting to the glass. (You can also use metal, cardboard, wood, or foam board) Whatever you have on hand.

Place the material over the ribbons in the frame and glue the ribbon down to the material. I used hot glue for this step. Make sure you pull the ribbon very tight before gluing. Also check that the material does not pucker.


Place the back of the frame in place and you are done. It is a snug fit, but I was able to get it together.

Here is the finished product! You can use any type of frame, large or small depending on the number of hair bows you have. Have fun!

Craft Fair Coming

So, many of you may know that my Mom is getting ready for her big craft bazaar here in my town next weekend. So, I decided to pull a few things together for the sale. A little extra Christmas money! So I will be posting what I have been making.
The first idea came from a prize that Amy at Keepin the Sunnyside won in a giveaway. I thought it was so cute. Hers came with tea, but I decided to make mine a stocking stuffer with a serving of hot cocoa inside. I love to put things like this in stockings. It makes it so much more personal and sweet.
This is a super easy craft to make. Cut a piece of felt 8 inches long by 3 inches wide. Fold over and stitch the edges.

You can straight stitch or blanket stitch. I did both with mine and liked them both ways. Sew on a snap to keep it closed.

Add some sort of cute bling to make it adorable. I found these super cute snowflakes at Jo-Ann's. I just hot glued them on. You could use a little flower, button, or any other embellishment you might have.
This is the finished product all ready for the show. I hope they sell! If not my kids love them!
