I did a bit of sanding and painting and it was done. I brought it into her room and had lots of run placing items on her new shelf/nightstand. She loves it and uses it every night for her books that she is reading. Way to go Hubby on this little gem.
I already had the baskets from another piece of furniture, so this project only cost us $13.oo for the paint. It was a lot of fun to transform it.
The only purchase I made was for 1 package of cork squares from walmart that cost about $5.00. Other than that I just used what I had on hand, or already in there. As you can see it was quite a mess and not organized at all.
I decided that the cork was not very cute so I pulled out some old valance curtains that I made for our other house and reused it to cover the cork. I just hot glued it on and then nailed the squares to the wall.
Sorry for the out of focus pic, but I was in a hurry before the kiddos came home. I wanted it to be a surprise. (Just a note, the sticky squares that come with cork is useless. I use small brads and nail them up so they are more sturdy.)
Tada! I just added the cork squares and reused my existing decorations for an organized are for school bags, keys, and papers. I even scrubbed the floor and walls for a clean look. I moved the small wood table to the corner to free up walking space. It is so much better!
I decluttered the coat rack be removing coats that were not worn, or were too small. I also updated some of the decorations on the shelf for something cute to look at. There is a hook for each of my three kids, so no one can say they can't find their coat. I also added two white baskets(a set of two for $1.14 at walmart) for odds and ends like sunscreen, tape rollers, etc.

Fall is my favorite season. Back to school, crisp air, a warm hearth, pumpkins, the beautiful colors. I am drawn to all the warm beautiful colors of fall, reds, browns, greens are all my favorite. I just feel so renewed in this season. I am not sure why, but I love it anyway, plus is leads on into Christmas, which is also a favorite of mine. I enjoy traditions and making life beautiful, and this a perfect time of year for that.
I decided to start with the front porch. This is the wreath I bought at a bazaar a few years ago. I just love the colors. Of course, everyone is always welcome at our house!
This is my front porch display. My corn didn't do so well in the garden this year, but it sure is the perfect size to go with Nellie the scarecrow! One thing I still plan to do is put some cute vinyl lettering on my fake pumpkins. I'll post that later!
Now we move inside to take a peak. This is the top of my entertainment center. It is a big one, so I have to put big items up on top to may it look OK. so my cute little church and weather vane take the honors because they are so big. This year I added different things like the fabric pumpkin and fall garland. I love to hang lights up there because it makes a wonderful soft glow in the family room at night.
This is picture of Hubby and I 16 years ago in Jackson Hole, Wyoming. It was so fun to dress up for this, and since I love everything western it has always been a permanent fixture in my decor. Don't we look like babies! I just love that old fashioned cat, isn't is so charming!
This is my little vintage pumpkin man Henry. Don't you just want to wrap him up and take him home? That is exactly what I did! I just love old vintage Halloween decorations. They are so cute and charming! I can't forget my little ceramic pumpkins, a Jo-Ann's purchase on clearance. There are three of them, but I often divide them up and move them around.
I did put out my Thanksgiving decorations along with fall because I want to be reminded to be thankful for all my many blessings. Sometimes I forget to be grateful for all the blessing I have and these help me be reminded of them.
This is my kitchen table, that I love to decorate. We don't eat here often, because we have a bar, but I still love to decorate it up. I am continuing to use my basket, because I just love the darn thing. In the words of Aunt Ruthie, I want to marry it! I also want to marry that super cute rooster pitcher my Mom gave me a while back. Can you believe she found that adorable thing at Goodwill? The Flowers, oh the flowers, were my special gift to myself for starting work and having the kids back in school. I found them at Trader Joe's (love that store). They are the most beautifully colored Gerber daisies with smaller yellow daisies and one sprig of eucalyptus that smells divine! The sparkly pumpkins I found a Walmart for super cheap!
This cute little pumpkin is my most recent fall addition. Picked this little gem up at Walmart for $5.00! It is so cute and after I marry the basket this little charmer is next!
For this group I got out my checkered cloth and a bit of ribbon for the plant pot. This little scarecrow is Burt. Say hi to Burt! I got him at the same adorable bazaar that I picked up the front door wreath. It was a good one! The little clay pot with fall foliage in it is something I made years and years ago when we lived in Utah. I even found the tiny little acorn on the ground when I was out riding horses. I have had that little cutie ever since!
Well that is just about it for me. I hope you enjoyed my fall decorations. I feel so alive this time of year and I hope you do to. Now go out and smell some fresh air!
I love roosters and chickens and decorate with them in my kitchen. I just think that chickens are the funniest things around. We currently do not have any real roosters, but the are fun to decorate with.
This rooster is such a funny guy. I found him in a great store near my parents home called "Bob's". Yup, just "Bob's". It is the funnest store because you can get everything from shot gun shells, fishing lures, candles, and toys to things like this rooster. It is such a fun place to go.
Just look at that beautiful head! You know he is watching you!

I have been searching for a dresser for Landon for a while now. I have been using a tiny, and I mean tiny little dresser for the past year and a half. It is a nightmare because Landon has been given more clothes than he can possible wear. The tiny dresser had served it purpose, but had to go.

Whew! I finally got the room done. It has taken me two weeks to get it done. Not because there was a lot to do, but my life is a non-stop ride on the interruption train. But none the less I am only a little worse for wear. There were lots of late nights painting and poor Addison has been bunking on the couch for most of it. She has been quite the trooper though. She said it was worth the wait.
So here is the before picture of her room. It is not always this messy, but we had just started going crazy on the whole redecorating.
Here is the after. Addison was pretty darn happy to happy to have her pink room finally done. She has been very patient in waiting for me to have the time to get it done.
We got her new bedding, pink of course. We painted the walls a very pale pink. We also found this chandelier at a charity resale shop for $15.00. I am bummed because I thought I had taken a before picture, but I guess I didn't. It was the color of cement, and not very cute, but with a little spray paint, beads and sparkly material this is what we ended up with!
I painted the shade on her lamp, that was purple, with white paint and hot glued pink flowers and more of the same beading as what was on the chandelier.
This stuff was on her all before, so not anything new. I do love the clock though. It is perfect for a Cinderella girl.
This is the before of the bookshelf, just plain old boring white shelf, nothing special, so we decided to give it a "pop" of color.
This is what we came up with. More pink. A great place to store all of her treasures.
This was Addison's idea too. The original wall color in her room was the green behind the vinyl lettering. Her idea was to tape off a square and paint around it, so the green shows through. Hubby is going to put up some molding to make it look like a picture frame. Can't wait for that.
I even polished up the old furniture that is in her room. This furniture was my Great-Grandparents bedroom furniture. It is a bit old for a girl of 8, but I keep it for sentimental value. Someday I hope to have a nice guest room to put this set in, for now Miss Addison gets it.

I have wanted to replace the chandelier over my table since the day the builder put that ugly thing in. I have looked high and low and couldn't find what I want, in my price range, price range being the key word here. This is one that I liked,
but $1,100.00 was just a few pennies out of my price range. I know it has saddles on it, but I like to decorate my house with all things cowboy! I will show you a few things in another post, but for now we're here on the chandelier.
Bit of a difference. I didn't say anything when we had a family gathering, to see if anyone noticed that the icky gold chrome light was different. My mom thought we had gotten a new light! I was so excited with the change, that I have tucked away my dream of the saddle chandelier until I get one of these...
So now you know my secret dream! Although, I must admit that I want one of these smaller, I don't want to have to clean a monster like that. No Way Hose! What's your secret dream?
I thought this little guy was so cute, he looks just like real chocolate. It is fun to tuck unusual little things in flowers. It is like a little bonus.
These three little gals, with their their leg warmers, keep my front door cheery through Easter. I found them at JoAnn's when all the Easter decorations were on clearance. I love getting great deal. The wreath behind is one that the birds love to come and peck at. They think they look like a yummy little snack. I hear birds in the spring scratching around on my door trying to get a yummy berry.
I love these crochet eggs. I have a set of three of them and they are fun to do many things with. This one is filled with pink Easter grass, but I have also filled them with candy too, the kiddo's love that.
This is my sofa table with my Easter Blocks that I made at my Mom's earlier this week. They were so much fun to make. They are sitting on a table runner that my Mom helped me make. It was fun project.
This is a bench in my entry way that I used to display some of my favorite things. The pillow was a gift from my husbands aunt for our wedding 15 years ago, and the lamb is one that my mother-in-law gave to me many years ago. I love this little "Honey Lamb" (name that movie?) because she has so many cute details, like the cow bell around her neck.
This is my favorite Easter decoration of all. It is a little purse that I made for my daughter when she was two. It is from a Martha Stewart pattern. I was so proud of my self for making this because I am so not a sewer, and it actually turned out and Addison loved it. Yes, the chick only has one eye, because the other one fell off and I have never replaced it. One of these days I need to get to that.
