Relief Society

Haven't seen me post a few weeks? Well here is an explanation why. I have been given a new calling in my church. I am now what is called the Relief Society President.

For those you who are members of my church, I can just picture you with your hand over your mouth sucking in air and thinking, "Oh my goodness!" That is what I said when asked. For those of you who are not members of my church this is a calling, that I volunteer to do, that puts me in charge of all the women, 18-108, in our area. I over see Sunday lessons, extra activities, visits, and the general welfare of our women. It is a daunting task that requires lots of time, patience, and love. But with that responsibility comes many blessings for me. I have already seen so many blessings, from friends offering any help they can, to a peace settling over our family and our home. My heart is full for this opportunity. There are SO many wonderful women whom I get to serve, work with and admire all at the same time. There are witty and smart women, kind and patient women, and those who love the Lord with all their hearts and serve other women behind the scenes with no glory expected.

The Relief Society of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints was founded in 1842 in Nauvoo, Illinois, USA, the Relief Society is one of the oldest and largest women's organizations in the world, with more than 6 million members in over 170 countries and territories. The Relief Society has been tirelessly working ever since to ease the burdens of those who are less fortunate or even just going through trials.

So now you know where I have been the past few weeks. I hope you will keep me and my family in your prayers. I am looking forward to serving in this calling but I know that I will never be able to accomplish this without the Lord to lead me and guide me in all that I do.

The Lord has been preparing you for this responsibility for awhile now, you just didn't know it.
You will do a wonderful job and will come to know and love these sisters that you serve.
Remember, the Lord said 'it won't be easy, but it will be worth it.'

Love ya,
Mom
