Homemade buiscut recipe

For this weeks recipe exchange I decided to share on of my staple recipes, Butter milk biscuits. It got this recipe from a good friend at church a few years ago and have been using it ever since. It is sooooo good. I love home made biscuits and they are so easy. I also freeze the cut dough and pull them out and bake as many as I need. Hope you like them as much as I do.

Buttermilk Biscuits

4 c. Flour (I use 1/2 white 1/2 whole "white" wheat flour)
4 T. Sugar
2 t. Salt
4 T. Baking Powder
4 T. Crisco (heaping)
2 c. Buttermilk
Mix dry ingredients in a bowl. Cut shortening in to flour mixture with a pasty cutter, until shortening is in small crumbles. Add buttermilk and mix well. Knead about 10-15 times on a floured surface. Roll out dough to 1" thick. Place on greased pan and bake at 425 for 16 minutes or until golden brown. Make sure not to over bake. Enjoy with butter, gravy, jam, or applesauce.

I love biscuits too! I usually take the easy way out, and buy them frozen ~ HA! I think I will save this recipe for a time when I am feeling ambitious! They look yummy in the photo though.
