Small Town Parades

Every year in our little town we have a Bear Festival. It has been going on for about 50 years and is quite fun. This year I notices flyer's for a kiddie parade with a "Me & My Pet" category. You know the wheels started turning and I thought it would be so fun to do a parade with the goats again. So I signed all the kids up, purchased a few items for costumes, and begged my hubby to be the candy tosser.

Let me tell you, these little critters were the hit of the parade. Everyone wanted to have their picture taken with them. Even all the pretty parade queens with their big puffy dresses stopped and wanted a picture.
Addison was Hermione Granger with her "cat" Crookshanks, Logan was Captain Jack Sparrow with his little pirate girl Black Kat, and Landon was a Cowboy with a wide load pony.

They even won the "Me & My Pet" category. Their prize was this lovely blue ribbon. Robb was also a hit with his bull rider costume. Do I have a trooper of a husband or what? I secretly think he likes being in parades. :)
Here is the bull rider and cowboy at the end of the parade, hot tired and ready for some bear stew.
Poor little Landon was very tired by the time we got to the end. His little legs had to work pretty hard to keep up. He also was slowed down by all the people yelling his name as we passed. We saw lots of friends and community members on the parade route.
We took our "pets" back to the farm and headed back to the festival for some stew, cotton candy and carnival rides. The stew was delicious and they gave you ALOT for your $2.00. No way are you going to go hungry in a small town. It was such fun.
Addison and I decided to get on the Sizzler ride. We are all smiles here, but by the end we were a little green and the bear stew threatened to come back up and rear it's ugly head. It was worth it though.
Logan and Landon on the notoriously scary airplane ride. Looks wild doesn't it?
This truck displayed a piece of the World Trade Center towers. The metal is going to be put on display in a town near us, and they are taking it through the parades before that. It was amazing to see something so large and strong bent like a piece of clay. Very moving.
After it was all said and done, I looked at my husband and said, "This is why we live in a small town."
