It's canning season again! I have been busy doing applesauce, pears, green beans and soon tuna.
It is a lot of work, but it is so rewarding to put those jars lovingly on your self and know that you did it all. The best reward is knowing where it came from and how it was processed. Nothing feels better in the world.

Kudos' to you Maria. I admire your gusto to put up food for your family. Your a great mama/wife!! Your last sentence really make so much sense. The problem with this country today (in my ever so humble opinion) is that they do not live like we do. They don't know what its like to struggle to make ends meet. They are the elite of this country, (most born with silver spoons) and have no idea what it means to have to skimp to pay a doctor bill. The real people of this country who are living in their modest homes, cooking in their family (farm) kitchens are the ones to suffer from their selfish agenda. Sorry.. I just get on a roll. L
PS.. love those beans in the jar, so reminds me of canning in my grandma's country kitchen.
Beautiful Bounty. I agree, it is very rewarding.
"You get to chat and solve the worlds problems at the same time. Maybe world summits should be held in a farm kitchen over peaches."
That is so so so awesome. :)
Please tell me, how do you can green beans? Thanks.
I would so love to give canning a try some day. These look yummy ;0)
I've been canning too. I would surely love to help you out! Those pears look scrumptious! Yesterday I did beets. I hate doing them, every year they give me grief. LOL. But there really isn't anything better than opening up a jar of home goodness on a cold winters day!!
Tuna? Really?? Wow. Your my hero!
HI Maria! This is the first time for me to come to your blog and oh that's the cutest header I've ever seen!!
Now those are gorgeous jars of canned pears and beans. I freeze sometimes but don't can. My mother sure did when I was a little girl. We always had wonderful veggies and fruits all winter.
Hope you'll pop in to see me sometimes.
Be a sweetie,
Shelia ;)
Oh they look wonderful! I love to can also...such a great feeling. :) Come say hi.
