So this weeks Frugal Friday post is dedicated to my Hubby who was a model for the old saying "Use it up, wear it out, make it do, or do without!"
He bought a tube of Aim toothpaste a while back for $1.00. He said it was gross, but plowed on anyway, determined to use it up instead of throwing it out. He squeezed every last bit out of that darn tube! Way to go honey! You are the frugal master!
So here is YOUR challenge for the week. Use something up, and I mean really get some use out of it. It could be the last of your deodorant, dish soap, mousse, whatever you choose. Then tell me your "Use it up" story. Either leave me a comment or email me. I want to hear how you use things up around your house!

Well.. since you asked.
My most recent Use it up moments are scraping every last drop of Pesto out of the jar, then mixing it with the left overs of every last drop of another jar ( I dont know why there were 2 jars open) to make pizza.
I also wanted every last drop of my fabric softener, so I propped it up on the wash machine dispenser and let it sit for about 10 minutes letting it completely drain... THEN.. I sat there and shuck it just in case!
In the shower, I keep my bottles of shampoo, shower gel upside down to let the completely drain, so that I can get every last drop.
Proud of me??
Yeah Amy!!!!! You too are frugal master!
Craig is very good at re-using containers I want to get rid of. He puts nails in lego canisters, screws in cool-whip containers, you get the idea! I have to say with four boys, I am good at passing down clothing to each boy. Sometimes I smile when I look at Micah wearing a shirt all my boys have worn! (Although it's nice to finally donate them when Micah outgrows them!)
Now that is an awesome idea! I'm so tired of seeing myself waste things. :)
Have a great weekend!!
xoxo
I love your blog. I will visit again when I have more time. Doylene
Gosh, I need to see what it is I can totally USE UP. I don't think I really waste things, but I could focus more on USING every bit.
I love that idea. Way to go Robb on squeezing the dickens out of that $1 tube of toothpaste.
I always use up the very last of the deodorant, soap, toothpaste, everything I can. I hate waste!
Like Amy, I turn liquid things upside down to get every drop. And, sometimes, just when I think they are empty, I add a little water, shake it up and viola! There is one more "dose" of whatever! Whether it is shampoo, soap, softener, or tomato sauce!
I also rinse, dry and reuse ziploc bags when they have only been used to store safe things. (Never meat)
When the kids were younger and we'd wind up with a cup of this cereal and 1/2 cup of that cereal, we'd mix them all up! The kids loved it and called it "Mix Up Cereal." A whole bunch of almost empties became a whole new box of cereal.
This is fun reading what everyone else does!
After I squeeze everything out of a tube I cut the end off and really get it all out. I used up all my laundry detergent and rinsed the jug out. Doylene
and after you have squeezed every bit of toothpaste you can cut off the tube..cut the tube part off leaving about 2 inches up from the lid and we can get another day of use out of it!
