On my wheat grinding post I was asked where to get a wheat grinder and wheat. As you know I have borrowed my Mother-in-Laws but you can buy your own. Fun with food Storage has a list of prices and different styles. They are around 200-300 dollars. You can also get a grinding attachment if you have a Kitchen Aid mixer. I have never tried one of those and don't know how well they work.
As for the wheat I get mine through our Church Cannery . They are located all over the United States and are open to anyone who would like to go. You can go and can your own food, or buy the bulk bags. The food can be canned in #10 cans or Mylar bags. I have used both and they are both great. Here is a Price Sheet for all the food. The church makes no money and sells it for cost. They just want us all to be prepared to take care of ourselves in the event of a job loss, natural disaster, or heaven forbid a food shortage.
I also came across a blog post of a Non-Mormon's experience at the cannery with her friend.
I also found this interesting blog called Food Democracy Blog. It is where I got the beautiful picture of wheat from above.
Hope this helps answer questions on grinding your own wheat. It feels good to do, plus it is so good for you.

Wow! Thanks for all the info! You inspired me yesterday to take up my search in earnest. So, I was googling for information last night. Since the grinders are kinda 'spensive, I think I'll look on Craig's List. I would love to find one. I've got a loaf of WW Crnaberry/Raisin going right now. And, my WW canister is almost empty again! LOL I'm going to look into the sites you mentioned. I really appreciate this! Thanks again.
Tammy,
So happy I could help. It feels so good go be resourceful and frugal. I hope your hunt for a wheat grinder goes well. Craigslist is a great idea! Another good idea is to go in on one with a friend or two. My mom and sister and I have talked about going in on one. Estate sales may be another place to pick one up. Good luck, and let me know what you end up finding!
Very interesting. This is all new to me, so I enjoy learning about the Canary. Wow.. those grinders are expensive. Wouldn't it be nice if they had a place at the Canary to do your grinding!
Wow, great information!! The only wheat I know is on Facebook on a thing called Farmville. LOL!
Okay, are you sitting down? You have to sit down now. You should get your package no later than Tuesday! Can you believe it? ;) Christmas came early but late. :)
