Eagle Crash Landing

Wow! We had a great weekend at the cabin! It was busy, wild, crazy, and exhausting but lots of fun. This is my hubby's Grandmothers cabin, that has been in the family for 40 years. Lots and lots of fun memories have been made here. It is on a small lake and is so peaceful and fun. No phone, a rabbit ear television and lots of cozy places to read a great book.

We did have quite the adventure on Saturday. Two bald eagles were fighting over territory and the fight ended up being over our heads. This eagle dove into the tree on the front lawn and none to gracefully fell about 3 feet in the tree. It broke branches and sent leaves flying down onto the lawn. We thought for a minute that the whole bird was going to hit the ground.

At first we couldn't figure out why it hit the tree so fast. They are usually so in control, but then we heard and saw this one overhead. I guess a mad eagle is a force to be reckoned with, because the one in the tree was scared.

After a few passes the second eagle dove into the tree after the first one, and then they both headed out of the tree and off to the west. It was quite the show. You don't realize how big those birds are until you see them up close. If I had my wits about me I would have switched my camera and made a movie for all to see. I was standing there with my mouth wide open and didn't even think about it until later. I did get these few pics to share.

The rest of the weekend was lots of time on the water boating, swimming, and fishing. Logan had a field day with sticks in the fire, we told him he would pee the bed, but it didn't deter him one bit. Logan was very excited to catch his first fish. He caught it all by himself. I think we have an outdoorsmen in our midst.

What an exciting weekend, wow, especially wtih those Eagles!! I can imagine how intimidating all that must have been. That is so cool that you have those wonderful memories in your hubby's grandmother's cabin. How wonderful and sentimental!
