My families favorite treat recipe

This is our family favorite "quick treat". I usually always have the ingredients and it is hard to screw this recipe up. So if you are looking for a quick chocolate fix this is the one for you.

Chocolate No-Bake Cookies

1 Stick butter or margarine
2 c. Sugar
1/2 c. Milk
1/4 c. cocoa
1 tsp. vanilla
3-4 c. Oats, we like quick oats

In a large sauce pan melt butter, sugar and milk together. Add cocoa and bring to a boil. Boil until sugar is dissolved. (No more than a minute) Remove from heat and add vanilla and oats. Drop spoonfuls of cookie mixture onto waxed paper and place in fridge for 15-30 minutes or until chilled. Enjoy!

This is one of my favorites, too, especially in the middle of summer when I don't want to turn on my oven. Thanks for sharing! Jennifer @ cooking like a frugalite

We haven't made these in forever - thanks for the reminder! Good luck with reducing your grocery bill, I am working on that myself. Dani Dooley's blog has good ideas too!

Saw you post on The Grocery Challenge. We love these cookies also....so good! Just wanted to comment that we may be related since Gardner is my maiden name, and we share the same religion! :)

Thanks for your comment. Where are you from? Most of my husbands family is from Utah at one time or another. Let me know.

I am in California, but have lots of family in or from Utah. Still have some in Farmington, and Riverton that I know of. Some have moved to Texas, and Oregon.
